IIFON-IX is one of the founding members of MANRS for IXPs. Globally selected IXPs have come together to redefine the minimum expectations from IXPs. The Internet Society’s Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS) initiative is designed to provide measures to improve the resilience and security of the internet’s routing infrastructure to keep it safe for businesses and consumers.
MANRS for ISPs has the following minimum conditions requested. The conditions enumerated below have been taken verbatime from the MANRS document linked here.
- Raise awareness and encourage actions by demonstrating commitment of the growing group of supporters
- Promote the culture of collective responsibility for resilience and security of the Internet’s global routing system
- Demonstrate the ability of the industry to address issues of resilience and security of the Internet’s global routing system in the spirit of collective responsibility
- Provide a framework for ISPs to better understand and help address issues related to resilience and security of the Internet’s global routing system
