Welcome to IIFON

IIFON serves as platform for Indian community to collectively address and resolve technical and functional issues relating to Critical Internet Infrastructure. It is engaged in Internet Operations Research including management of Internet Exchange Points and DNS anycast Root Instances. The Internet infrastructures making all connectivity possible consist of multiple digital platforms, tracking systems and other largely invisible ways of sourcing and aggregating data, as well as advanced algorithms and visualisation techniques. In a world of mobile apps and search engines, the DNS may be much less visible to end users than it was 30 years ago but it still underpins the Internet in critical ways. It is yet another invisible layer in the protocol stack and a unique place to measure and tinker internet.
