Venue: Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Kolkata, West Bengal, India

The Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) 2022, held on 20–21 April 2022 at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Kolkata, brought together global business leaders, policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs, diplomats, and industry experts to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic partnerships in West Bengal. Organized by the Government of West Bengal through the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC), the summit served as the state’s flagship investment promotion platform, showcasing its industrial capabilities, infrastructure, and business-friendly ecosystem.

Anupam Agrawal participated in the summit as a delegate, engaging with leaders from government, industry, academia, and the technology sector to gain insights into emerging investment trends, digital transformation initiatives, and innovation-driven economic growth. His participation reflected an interest in the intersection of technology, digital infrastructure, standards, and sustainable industrial development.

Held under the theme “Springboard for Growth,” the summit highlighted West Bengal’s transformation into one of India’s fastest-growing economic regions. Sessions focused on strengthening manufacturing, logistics, information technology, electronics, infrastructure, MSMEs, financial services, renewable energy, healthcare, education, tourism, and digital innovation. The summit also emphasized the state’s strategic geographic location as the gateway to North-East India, South-East Asia, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, making it a key hub for regional trade and connectivity.
The programme showcased West Bengal’s significant economic progress, including sustained GDP growth, expansion of industrial parks, development of three industrial growth corridors, establishment of a 200-acre IT and Electronics Park at Rajarhat, improvements in digital infrastructure, and initiatives such as Silpa Sathi, the state’s single-window investment facilitation system. Delegates also learned about opportunities in MSMEs, smart manufacturing, logistics, export-oriented industries, and technology-enabled entrepreneurship.

BGBS 2022 attracted business delegations from more than 25 countries, with 14 partner countries officially participating. The summit featured plenary sessions, sector-specific discussions, business-to-government (B2G) and business-to-business (B2B) meetings, investment networking opportunities, and the concurrent Bengal Global Trade Expo. Industry associations including CII and FICCI, along with knowledge partners KPMG, EY, PwC, and CRISIL, supported the event, reinforcing its position as one of India’s leading investment summits.

Participation in the Bengal Global Business Summit 2022 enabled Anupam Agrawal to engage with national and international stakeholders shaping India’s economic and digital future. The summit reinforced the importance of public-private collaboration, innovation, and technology-led growth in creating a globally competitive, investment-ready ecosystem while strengthening West Bengal’s position as a major destination for business and industrial development.
