The International Conference on Internet Technology, Innovation, Policy and Standards (iTIPS 2019) was organized by the India Internet Foundation (IIFON) in collaboration with the University of Calcutta on 11-12 November 2019. Conceived as a multidisciplinary forum, the conference brought together researchers, academicians, policymakers, network operators, industry professionals, and members of the Internet technical community to deliberate on the future of Internet technologies, innovation, policy, and standards. The event aimed to bridge academic research with real-world Internet operations while fostering collaboration across disciplines.
A key highlight of the conference was the leadership of Mr. Anupam Agrawal, Founder and Chairman of IIFON, who served as the Host of the conference and Moderator for the Internet Policy Panel Discussion. Through his leadership, the conference facilitated discussions that connected technical research, operational best practices, and policy perspectives, encouraging collaboration between academia, industry, and the Internet community.

The two-day programme featured keynote addresses, invited talks, technical tutorials, Internet Standards sessions, Internet Technology sessions, Internet Innovation discussions, a dedicated PhD Forum, and panel discussions led by distinguished experts from academia, research institutions, and global technology organizations. Participants explored emerging topics including Internet infrastructure, networking science, cybersecurity, Internet governance, authentication technologies, blockchain, IoT, wireless sensor networks, and Internet standards.
Beyond the technical sessions, iTIPS 2019 provided an environment for meaningful knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration. The conference strengthened connections between researchers, practitioners, and policymakers while encouraging practical approaches to addressing evolving Internet challenges.
As one of IIFON’s landmark initiatives, iTIPS 2019 reinforced the Foundation’s commitment to advancing Internet research, technical excellence, standards development, and informed policy dialogue. The conference continues to serve as an important milestone in fostering a resilient, secure, and future-ready Internet ecosystem in India.
